  1. How Kilbride derived its name is not known for certain, but tradition says that once a chapel founded by Saint Brighid stood here. There was a cemetry here also. To prove the truth of this I will relate the following story. One day while a farmer was building a ditch he unreluctantly turned up on his spade the remains of a human being. He continued digging, and in the space of a few hours he unearthed quite a large amount of human bones which were removed to Castletown, and buried there. During the Winter months a light circles round the place where the bones were taken out of
