The old people told me that there were a big number of small farmers living in Bolies long ago. There are many remains of old mudwall houses still to be seen. The people that lived in these houses were evicted by people called Smiths. The story is told that the Smiths were cursed. There are none of the Smiths living in the district now. Portions of the lands were divided amongst the local farmers and the remainder is in possession of a family named Matthews.
The land is good and fertile.
