    A Flood
    The greatest flood which occurred in this district in recent years happened in the month of August. Nineteen hundred and twenty nine. It came in a thunderbolt. A cloud burst on the Cairn of Corrakitt mountain, and the rushing waters swept over the countryside.
    A bridge between the townland of Tulla and Bavan was swept away, and even the potatoes growing in the fields were carried off. A huge oak tree, hundreds of years old was uprooted, and the tree is still to be seen lying in the meadow.
