- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)When dried sufficiently it was placed in a house.
In this district anthracite fires were used. They gave off no smoke or smuts. A framework of iron was placed over the fire about four feet from it. On this frame each bundle of flax got the final drying.
As each bundle was dried it was placed on the flagged floor of the kitchen and beaten with a thorageen.
The hackler was then brought to the house to hackle the flax.
It was then sent to Nagg's Mill near Thurles for further preparation.
When received back from the mill it was taken to the weaver in Ballysloe to be woven into sheets, shorts +c.
The weaver's name was Dempsey.
