- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Mínichín - pronounced mweenaheen.About forty years ago a spancel made of horse hair was used for fettering cows whilst milking them. The spancel contained a loop at one end and short stick called the mínichín at the other. The centre of the mínichín was fastened to the spancel and when the spancel was placed round the animal's legs, the mínichín was passed through the loop and turned underneath, thereby securing the spancel firmly.
