When he was about to finish his Education, the Earl of Ormonde built a school for his employees and his tenants. The first teacher who taught in it was Seán Ó Dúinn. He was a very good school-master. He taught many subjects to the children. Some of the principal ones were writing and Irish. He was a very good writer himself and used to write many poems, songs and stories. - One day a few Republican soldiers were going up to Cottterstown and they called into Garryricken House and while they were inside a lorry of military arrived and started to surround and ambush it. The leader of the Republicans stationed a man with a rifle inside each window which he bravely defended.
