When Fr. Sheehy was dead, his head was cut off & hung on the the prison-gates of Clonmel as food for the crows. Guards were put minding it.
One night, the priest's sister stole up to the gates, snapped the head off (the spike), rolled it up in her apron and buried it.
When Maud died, as he couldn't be taken from his room, the place had to be locked up for about ten years. At the end of that time, the room was opened, but nothing was to be seen there, because the rats had eaten both the corpse & the coffin.
Immediately after this, the crows flew over Dundrum and built there.
