- During the "bad times" there was a woman living near here and she had a big family of small children. One day they had nothing to eat and the wheat was not ripe. The poor woman did not know what to do.
While she was saying her prayers a thought came to her. She went out to the corn field and cut off some of the ripest heads of wheat she could get, winnowed off the chaff in the wind, ground the grain with a quern stone, and made a cake of bread. It was the turning point of the famine for they were never hungry again.Told by Tobias Fynan Aged 25 years
