- Inventing home made toys provides very nice occupation to fill up your leisure hours. This is very nice pastime especially in the Winter when the nights are long and dreary. Boys often make pop-guns. These are made of elder sticks. First of all the pith is taken from the piece of timber and then a smaller stick is inserted into the hole with a piece of cork in the end. The stick then shoots the cork about seven yards away.
