- Inventing home made toys provides very nice occupation to fill up your leisure hours. This is very nice pastime especially in the Winter when the nights are long and dreary. Boys often make pop-guns. These are made of elder sticks. First of all the pith is taken from the piece of timber and then a smaller stick is inserted into the hole with a piece of cork in the end. The stick then shoots the cork about seven yards away.
Other toys which are often made are bows and arrows. These are made from a willow or sallow tree. The stick is shaped like a bow and held in place by a piece of twine. The arrow is made of a lighter piece of wood put(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
