- The local fairs are always held in the town. In olden times buyers transacted business in the country, usually at farmers' houses and this is still carried on.Formerly a fair was held in Borrisokane on 17th March but this fair was discontinued owing to it being a holiday. The town fair is held in the fair green and sometimes in the street.Toll is paid on cattle sold, one penny is paid on sheep, two pennies on each head of cattle and this is given to the Government official.Luck penny, as it is called, is given when any animal is sold.
