  1. Fionn the leader of the Fenians was very old when this story took place, and was blind also.
    Every summer the Fenians went to hunt over the country, and every year they used to go to a different part of the country.
    One summer they came to a mountain near the district which is called See Finn after Fionn.
    Fionn was very fond of dogs and had a dog called Bran.
    Bran was very fond of Fionn and always sat beside him wherever he went.
    One evening when all the Fenians were seated around a fire on See Finn after the day's hunt, suddenly they noticed the sky begin to darken.
    When they looked to see what caused the darkness they beheld a great bird about to descend on the mountain. Fionn ordered the Fenians to set Bran at the bird.
    Bran ran at the bird and after a great struggle he succeeded in killing
