    Food continued (page 3)
    herrings and the only vegetable they had was cabbage. They used to eat their supper about seven o'clock and got no more until their breakfast next morning. On special occasions they had a goose for Christmas, eggs at Easter and a currant cake for St. Patrick's Day. The vessels people used before cups were saucepans and wooden mugs called piggens
