  1. In the olden days sufficient corn was grown in the parish of Feenagh to supply the needs of each family.
    Foreign wheat and flour were then unknown, as people depended on their own gardens and corn crops to supply food for their families.
    In those days threshing the corn in the Autumn was a very slow and hard work. The sheaves were spread out on a hard floor and beaten by flails wielded by the hand of the threshers. The corn was then cleaned of its husks by winnowing. For this process of cleaning the seed a breezy day was necessary to blow off the light chaff. The corn was carefully
