- The following was composed by my aunt _ Nora Dalton_ after leaving Ireland for America more than forty years ago. She is now a nun in a Californian Convent. I got it from my Father, Michael Dalton. Carrickerry. From Carrickerry, so blithe and merry,
I sailed away o'er the ocean wide,
Being sad at leaving - my heart was grieving
To leave the home where my father died. The bubbling fountains from Rooskagh mountains
Of the ocean billows they are in quest.
They wind their way through the verdant valley
That surrounds belovéd Newcastle West. 'Twas there in youth with my friends I sported.
And searched the glands for the sweetest flowers.
There, youthful swains the young maidens courted
In sylvan glades and in shady bowers.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
