Cattle are marked sometimes by clipping the hair off the side or by putting mud on the flank. When a horse is sold the rope or halter is given to the buyer.
There are three great fairs held in Mallow; October horse fair, New Year's Day Fair and the twenty seventh of July. There is a great horse fair at Barehimes once a year. Sheep and bonhams are sold at mostly all fairs.
