  1. There is a fort in Ballyedmond, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. The field in which it was is called the fort field. The fort is situated in the middle of the field. The fort was a circular shape. There was an earthen fence around it. The entrance hole was so small that any person could not get in there. The old people say that Fairies lived there.
One night a man was walking through the field and he heard music and he followed it till it came to the top of a hill and there he saw four men in red playing bag-pipes. The men went into the fort and the man tried to follow them but when he put his head in the hole it got stuck there. Then all of a sudden he found himself getting small and he was able to go in. When he got inside the place got all dark and there was noise like someone breaking ware.
Then he ran to get out but he could not find the opening and it is said he stayed there for the rest of his life.
In Mr. John Murphy's farm Carrignavar, Co. Cork. there is a fort which three men tried to open but it failed them. When they had dug about eleven feet deep they came to a flag and raised it. They they went along an under ground passage where they had to use a candle for light. They found another slab which was standing up like a door. When they were opening it the candle went out and they lit it three times but it went out again. Then they got afraid and they ran. After this there was a calf lost there and Mr. Murphy closed it. Then he ploughed it down and nothing happened.
