    The bobbies of Carrig were shaking with fear,
    When some raiders for arms came flocking in here[?]
    They called for surrender no answer they got,
    "Be gor" says their leader, "we'll fight on the spot"

    The fighting first started from Kate Murphy's shop
    Where Lizzie and Molly were ready to drop.
    Kate in the kitchen didn't know what to do,
    But ran out in the yard without stocking or shoe.

    Then over the fields Johnny Hartnett to call,
    "For the honour of God take me over the wall"
    From that to Kate Flynn's where she knocked at the door,
    And there she remained till a quarter to four.
    IV
    Paddy "Waxer ran out but he got a suck-in,
    He went down to the Marsh, to a drain he fell in.
    The raiders came on him with rifles in hand
    Saying "Waxer we'll shoot you if you're not going to stand."

    "Now" says poor Paddy "I'm in a great fix,
