beast which was supposed to come out of a lis in Gortmore and gallop over Mount Hillary, visit a lis in Killavoy and then come along across the Glen River at Gabha'r ford. It used to gallop to "Líos-na-bparmín" and return after a while to Gortmore roaring all the time
At long last the young men of the district made up a plan to come together and attack this beast. According to Denny Bowler's story, "they were young strapping men who were afraid of nothing. They waited, 60 of them, one night until the animal came, every man was armed with a bata draighin (black thorn stick). They saw that he was exactly like a colt and they slashed him with their sticks. He broke through them, however, and giving vent to a mighty roar which shook the Glens, he disappeared into the cave and was never heard of or seen since.
The lis was called "lios-na-bparmín" ever since.
