- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Thatching is a very tasty job, there are a few thatchers in this district. There names are William Sullivan Stuake, and Jerh Dinan Knockarourke. First the people pull the reed and put it together nicely in little bundles.
Then they get spárs and point them. The thatcher puts up the reed on the house first and then he drives the spárs when he has them twisted.Lime Kilns:-
At the end of this parish near Lombardstown there is a lime kiln. It is said that long ago the people drew the lime stone out of the quarry. Then some people put turf and other flamable things into the quarry, and set fire to it.Nails:-
Long ago the blacksmiths made nails, first they put the nail rod in the fire and reddened the end of it. Then he shaped it on the anvil with a hammer and pointed it. That is never done now as they are all bought made.
They also make other iron instruments, first they redden the iron in the fire, then they put it on the anvil and shape it, to make spades and many other things.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
