   And the roses purple red
   That linger on the longest, when the Summer months has fled
   But its only now in memory
   This fair land can I see
   For I am exiled from my native land
   And the river Gleann Dá Fhiadach

   There is no place where yet I have been
   Since I've see before
   Can take my mind
   Aft that stream behind
   That flows down Bolomore
   Its winding shores 'round the Currarague lands
   Where the races used to be
   And twas there I bagged the salmon
   In the river Gleann Dá Fhiadach

   This river bright it was a sight
   On the days when I had seen
   I roamed along its flowery banks and plucked the shamrock green
   That brilliant stream passed loudely on
   More currant than the Lee
   And the angler sought deversion
   In the river Gleann Dá Fhiadach
