- In the year 1918 a disease broke out all over the British Isles called influinza. At that time this parish suffered heavily owing to this disease which was the cause of several deaths. The OBrien brothers, Ballinhassig, John Murphy Ballinhassig, Denis OBrien Ballinhassig John Wolfe, Halfway Ballinhassig and some others died of it.
Several burnings took place in this parish during the years 1921 and '22. The R.I.C. barracks, the Ballinhassig railway station, Mr Healys Ballinaboy Michael Desmonds Rigsdale along with several haggards were burned.
A man by the name of Richard Good Coolkirky was found drowned in a stream which forms the boundary between Lisefehill and Coolkirky.
