  1. One day when my cousins and neighbours and I were sitting around the fire talking one person asked us the following riddle. Why is a cows tail like the letter F? Because it is the end of beef. After that everybody asked about riddles. Some of them were: Why is a dog's tail like the heart of a tree? Because it is farthest away from the bark. If a farmer could raise 250 bushels of wheat in dry weather what could he raise in wet weather? An umbrella.
What is as black as ink as white as milk, hopping on the road like hailstone?
    A magpie.
Ink and under the bank ten drawing four?
    A woman milking a cow.
Why does a cow cross the road? Because she wants to get to the other side.
Why does a cow look over the ditch? Because she could not look under it.
What part of a cow goes over the ditch first? Her breath.
How many sticks go to build a crow's nest? None.
After a while our visitors returned home because it was getting late. We had a very enjoyable time asking and answering riddles.
