In our farm at Camus there is a field which is not far from a fort. This field is called The "Cill". It is supposed that it was a graveyard several years ago. It is not flat like other fields, but there are mounds like graves in it. During the lifetime of my grandfather two men were sent at different times to take away a broken down fence which surrounds the graveyard. Each of the men got sick and died soon afterwards. Nobody would work there since.
During the Anglo-Irish War a hiding-place was dug in the ground near the "Cill". This served the men who were "on the run". One night a young man, who never touched intoxicating drink was alone in this hiding-place. He heard a funeral pass by and go towards the graveyard.
