When the bride is leaving her house to go to the church it is an old custom to peg an old shoe after her for good luck.
When she is returning home from the church to the wedding house it is said to be lucky to meet a man on her way.#The finer the day is the better for the couple, as an old rhyme says:-
Happy is the "marriage" the sun shines on.
Happy is the "corps" the rain, rains on.
