Long ago there lived an old man who was nicknamed Seán Bán. When he died the name of one of the local smiths was put on the coffin. The smith went along the road in a horse and cart. The guards examined the cart and they saw there was no name on the cart. The smith said:- "My name is on the coffin".
Everynight the women gathered at the forge and told stories while they sat knitting. "Firelock" can cure horses of Coulters breaks.
It was the custom to put on two shoes on a colt free of charge. When the colt was shod the smith used take the man to a tavern. A smith's seventh son could cure very bad diseases.
