  1. Marriages most frequently take place during Shrove particularly on Shrove Tuesday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are considered to be three unlucky days to get married as well as the two months May and August.
    The man who makes the match usually gets money as a reward. Upwards of thirty years ago the people were allowed to get married in the houses but they are not allowed at the present day but get married in the churches.
    After a marriage there is usually a great feast at the bridegroom's house and this feast is called a wedding. On the night of the wedding in some parts of the country "strawboys" visited the house where the wedding was held and demanded money and food from the people of the house the latter usually gave them what they demanded as they
