1. A Holy Well

   There is a holy well in Ballygurteen, situated in a bog and underneath the old burial ground of Páirc na Cille. It was a famous holy well in olden times and it was noted for many miraculous cures, and rounds were made annually by hundreds of people. The custom has now fallen into disuse for a number of years, as the well dried up following pollution, it is believed, by some party of Anti-Catholic views. A tradition tells us of the same person immediately growing a tail, which he was in great pains to conceal for the reamainder of his life. However, the tale of this tail, follows his successors to this day. The well, or rather the site of it,
