- There was a man living near Castletownshend who used to tell of the leaps he gave. One day there were people playing football in the Barn field. There was a wall surrounding this field about twelve feet high. This old man was going to the field to see the men playing. He did not go in through the gates but the high wall.
That evening there was a dance in Myross and this man was going there. The day was very wild and no boat could go across.
So this man took a jump and landed on Cat Island. He then took a step and landed in the sea and he had no time to sink for he took the jump straight away and landed on Myross side.
