The Call for Each Animal:-There is a call for each animal. The call for the horse or ass is 'phtrough', for the goat Jenny or Meg, for the pig 'hurrish'. The farmyard animals have their own calls as well:- tioc tioc for the hens, (badda, badda for the geese, bebe bebe for the turkeys, lacha for the ducks.The cow house in olden times was known as the byre. Horse-shoes, medals, crosses and other emblems were hung on the roof to bring luck on the stock. The horse is kept in a barn by himself and foddered every night and morning. The fodder consists of hay and straw and two feeds of oats every day.
