he names of the roads in this locality are as follows. Charlestown road leading to Banada and Curry road leading to Swinford.
The Banada road was made in the time of the famine 1846'-47. to give work to the people who were starving.
Men and women worked very hard for a poor wage.
It was not horses and carts they had but asse's and "Pardógs".
The highest wage paid was six-pence and it is said that a man called "Padraig na Bpingin" worked for a penny a day.
