- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the field are kept and the last two are stood almost straight.
Next the stack has to be thatched. Reeds and rushes are cut and tied in bundles. They are pushed into the butts of sheaves in the roof. Begin at the ring and leave about four inches overlapping over the edge. Go right around the roof with each round of rushes. When the top is reached an armful of loose grass is placed on the top and is called the cap. The roof is belted round with ropes.
The butt of the stack is then clipped to leave it nice and tidy.
The bulk of the corn is threshed in November and December, but a few stacks are left until the Spring.
These are for seed and are threshed in March.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
