On the wedding day many customs are observed. The bride is usually superstitious about the colour of her wedding dress. Blue is a favourite colour "Marry in blue your love will be true" and then "Something old, and something new something coloured and something blue.
The bridegroom usually goes first to the church with his friends the bride arriving later with her friends, after the marriage the newly wedded return to the brides house for breakfast or perhaps proceed to a neighbouring town for it.
The day is spent in touring around and that night all return to the brides house where a big party is held plenty to eat, plenty to drink, plenty of singing and dancing. Later in the night the bride goes of to her new home accompanied by some older woman. On arriving there she is(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
