Ar an leathanach seo
- The bread that was made long ago was oat cake, Boxty bread and rye bread. There was no flour made for there was no wheat grown and flour was only bought for special occasions and that was the only time a white cake was made. The oat meal cake was baked before the fire on a grid-iron. The Boxy-bread was made with boiled potatoes and new potatoes grated, mixed together with a handful of meal or flour. A little milk or water was used if it was needed. Bread was not baked every day but was baked in lot at a time. About 45 years ago if a man bought a sack of flour he would have to cover it in the cart for people would say he used a lot of flour
