    It is said that the monks in Graiguenamanagh and the monks in Leighlinbridge had a horse trained to carry messages from one monastery to another. This went on until some evil minded person living in Fenniscourt Co. Carlow killed the horse when he was on his journey and took whatever valuables he was carrying. They afterwards threw the body of the horse into the river Barrow, and it is said that an apparition of the horse is sometimes seen at the spot, which is called Sgaíl an Chapaill.

The third day a man came up to him and said "I see you walking on the bridge every day and I'm wondering what are you doing", the Irishman told him that he hoped to get his fortune on London Bridge, the strange man told him to go to a certain house
