  1. The Potato-Crop
    The potatoe is grown on our farm
    About one acre of land is sown under them each year Daddy prepares the ground, some people manure the ground before they turn it up.
    The potatoe is sown in drills a plough is used to make them. It is said that wooden ploughs were used in olden times but there are none of them in it now.
    Some potatoes are cut before sown but every seed must have two or three eyes
    When the plant is about three or four inches above the ground there are moulded. When the stalk is two or three high a blossom appears on it and when the stalk withers it time to plough them out The local name given to the
