They thought they were going to be captured, so they let the flag drop and ran, leaving their comrade closed in the grave. The three men who entered last came to the grave and began to plan the best way to open it. The man who was closed in the grave knew that it wasn't the voices of his comrades so he kept very quiet until the grave was opened and he had his pockets well filled with money. "Now Reuben" said one of the men "go down and open the coffin". Just as Reuben landed below the other man said "Hold on Reuben I will go up now." Up he jumped and frightened away the other two men and they let the flag drop, and it is said Reuben is below yet.
