- Long ago the people used to use wooden ploughs which were made by cartpenters. Certain parts of the plough were made of iron for instance the soc, coulter, and mould board were made from iron. Michael Hunt was the last man in Gurteen who had a wooden plough. There isn't any part of it left now as it rotted away. It was the same make of a plough as the iron one.
