- One of the traditions concerning Father Plunkett is as follows.
He was once called upon to attend the death bed of some person in the neighbourhood and he was obliged to follow a path across the fields leading to the house. As he walked along, he came across a large pile of gold placed exactly in the centre of the path. The Friar did not delay only to drive his walking stick down through the middle of the gold into the earth and hurried on his way.
When his sacred duties were done, he asked a young man of(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
