    1. Long ago the houses were different from what we see now. They were built of mortar and roofed with scraws which were held up withe branches and then thatched over that. The houses were thatched with rushes and sqeeze-loops. They were not much slated houses long ago.
    Long ago there was a bed in the kitchen, which was called a "pouch" or "pristy." There are some yet in the districts, they are placed in the corners.
