    1. The Great Famine was in the year 1846 and 1847. It affected the district very much by, causing the people to die on the road-side and by the blight on the potatoes. It was the disaster from which Ireland did not recover for many years.
    People who were not able to keep themselves in their houses had to go out on the road and seek food. There are some houses in ruins which fell during the famine through out the country. The people ate the flesh of horses and rats and there came a disease over all the country and a lot of people
