They died in crowds near the ditches and by the road-sides. They died in such large numbers that it was impossible to bury them properly. In most cases there were no coffins but the naked body was thrown into a deep hole by the survivors.
People who died of the hunger in the famine days are buried in a field near the present graveyard in the townland of Moulagullane. They were buried near to where the protestant church now stands in the village of Sneem.
The people of these years also died of fever, brought on by want of food and care.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
