In Summer the potato-crop has to be wed and hoed. When the potato buds are above the ground they are moulded and wed again. So that they are easy to dig in Autumn. Most farmers dig their potatoes with a potato-digger and they are easy to gather. A few people join together and pick the potatoes. The potatoes are put into pits to keep them safe for winter use. Kerr's Pinks, Arran Banner's, British Queens, are they most usual kinds planted here.- Collector
