The potatoes usually sown here are Leinster Wonders, Irish Queens, British Queens, Skerry Champions, Epicures, American Roses, Cups, Shamrocks, Flounders, Sharp's Express.
- Basket-making is carried on in Ballyragget by John Egan, Moat. Several others practised the trade in years gone by. The baskets are made from sallies; for the bottom of the basket strong rods are used and he plaits slender ones together and weaves then in and out for the sides
