  1. There are many ancient placenames in and around Freshford. These include:-
    Bohergloss:- The green road, so called becasue of the green grass which grows on each side of the road.
    Clashacrow - or the field of the slaughter, so called because of a battle which was fought there and after which its rivers ran with blood.
    Rathbeagh, where is a small rath, in which Eremon is supposed to be buried.
    Cluain-Tiobrad - is about two miles from Freshford. It is so called because of a well at the back of the Church, namely St. Fiacra's well which never runs dry and which was blessed by St. Fiacra. A road in this district is the "Dead Man's Road", so called because a dead body was discovered there.
    The Deer Park is so called because deers used to graze there.
    The Silver Park is so called because of the
