- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)After that Mass was celebrated in Lisiniskey rock in a shed owned by a man named Marron. This got the name "Bothóg", which afterwards is supposed to have given its name to "Bawn" where the present church stands. In the year 1775 A.D. when the Penal laws became somewhat relaxed, a temporary church was erected here, and although much too small to accommodate the congregation continued to be used until 1839 when the present church was built. This church now known as St Patrick's Church Bawn was erected on an Irish acre of freehold property given to the clergy by a man named Sheridan. The grave-yard attached to the church was opened for interrements about the same time. The place is still very often called "Sheridan's Acre".
