"Straw boys" sometimes attended these wedding house & their arrival oftentimes was the cause of an uproar within, and without. They were very unwelcome guests for they stayed outside making very unpleasant noise & often when refused an entry into the wedding-house often made attempts to force one - sometimes with great - thus causing the scattering of the party in complete riot.
In later years those attending the "drag home" drove home in cars.
Sometimes in early years those attending the "drag home" raced against each other to see who would arrive at the Brides house first.
