  1. Once there lived in this place a poor man named Dómhnall and his wife Siobhan. One morning when the man was going out to his work he told his wife to cut the long grass that was in the thatch of the house and give it to the cow to eat. But instead she drove the cow up on the top of the house as the house was very low. The cow was not very long up on the house when she fell down and got killed.
    When Dómhnall came from his work he was distracted. He skinned the cow and cut her up and put her in the tub to salt. A few days after that he was going to work again. He told his wife to get some of the beef and to put it down with some of the cabbage in the haggard.
    But instead of putting it down to boil she carried the beef out and put a
