  1. Two boys named Hayden from Mahannagh were drowned some 30 years ago on Lower Lough Gara. They went out sliding on the ice. There was a spring and they could not stop themselves and were sucked back under the ice.
    A little boy named Gaffney was drowned some 11 years ago. He went to play in a boat and was rocking it and the boat drifted out. He must have got frightened and jumped out for the boat was found floating safely but the poor little lad was found drowned on the shore some miles away.
    A woman called Flannery who was "off her head" drowned herself in the lake at Shoof.
    Another lunatic by the name of Casey threw herself under the train and was killed
