When vegetables are scarce nettles are used as a substitute.. They are a good blood purifier and can be used as a tonic.
The seed being useful for chest infections.Docks are very common in the district. They have flat broad leaves which are green at first and later turn red.If the dock leaf is rubbed to a nettle sting it will cure it.
The docks are also a good purifier for the blood.
The Borage is a tall yellow weed which is a very noticeable in a field of oats. This weed spreads rapidly in the land and it takes the nourishment from the crops, which are sown by the farmer.
