On Hallow Eve night the custom in the country is to go into gardens and take the cabbage and break it on the doors of the houses.
On St Stephen's day the wren boys go out from house to house knocking at the doors and singing the wren song.
On bonfire night they build big fires with turf, coal and sticks and at about 10 or 11 o'clock they light them. They also throw rockets and squils into the air.
